Planting native plants and installing Bat Boxes

April 12 @ 9:00 am April 13 @ 4:00 pm

The Brookside Preserve is set to undergo a sustainable restoration that will benefit the land and neighboring communities for years to come. The preserve is nestled within 22 acres of freshwater and undisturbed woodland, in Freeport, NY. Throughout the year, creek water levels are known to fluctuate leading to standing water. The effect—massive mosquito swarms inevitably treated with chemical pesticides.

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help with our upcoming project at the Brookside Preserve. This is a fantastic opportunity to give back to nature by planting native species that support local wildlife and installing bat boxes that promote biodiversity.

What to Bring:
– Gardening attire (please dress appropriately for outdoor work)
– Gloves
– A hat for sun protection
– Shovel and knee pads for comfort while planting
